We are putting together a serious M/S effort from
9Y4 for the CQWW SSB contest and are in need of
2 good operators.
We will be setting up everything from scratch at
a rented house. We already have acquired most of
the equipment with the exception of 1 notebook
computer.
We will arrive in 9Y on Oct 25th and depart on Nov 1(+/-).
Please send inquiries to me or call (205)-430-8820 days

Does anyone have any information regarding the WARC add-on kit for the
Mosley TA-33 ?

Is it worth the effort ? Pros or Cons ?

A friend, Eric - W0XG, is contemplating buying the kit for his TA-33.

(Yes, we're aware of no contests in the WARC bands, this is a contest
reflector, etc).

Perhaps one of the contributing reasons to moderate to lousy activity
from rare multipliers in the CW Sprint was the unbelievable scheduling
conflict with the VHF contest. Certainly, the Sprint sponsors should be
paying better attention to avoiding such conflicts. For example, if the
Sprint was next weekend instead, even I might have been in there, since
I'm putting up a couple HF antennas on Saturday...

Yes, you are now well on the downside. You will know the end has come
when you have to drag out CT version 1.02 with it's 40-characters
across..Steve KO0U/4

I have been having serious line noise for almost 2 years now. The local
power company gets about a B+ for their response, in spite of the fact
that the problem remains unsolved. I have tracked the source down to
a 115KV stepdown transformer in a substation about 1/4 mile from my
house. (Yes, I bought the house before I became a serious contester).
The power company claims that they can't work on 115KV circuits while
they are live. And they (understandably) can't shut the thing down
because that would take out most of an industrial park. A backup feed
is in the process of being installed, but in the mean time, I have
S9+10 line noise on 20. My question is, is there anybody out there
who can confirm or deny the power company's claim that they can't
work on the circuit live. I wouldn't want anybody to get hurt fixing
the problem, but I am a contester, and CQWW is fast approaching.
I am suspicious that the power company may be telling me that they
can't work on it because they just don't want to, and maybe if I
apply more heat, their story might change.
