RSGB 7mHz contest

Subject: RSGB 7mHz contest
From: w6go@netcom.com (Jay O'Brien - W6GO) (Jay O'Brien - W6GO)
Did anyone else participate seriously in the RSGB 7 MHz contest from the
USA? The posting here 20-Feb by GM4FDM tweaked my interest and I made a
real effort to work every G I could hear on 7 MHz during the contest. It
was a real bust! This looks like a fun contest, but I guess not from W6.

As this is REALLY short, I'll post it here rather than on the 3830
reflector, as I'm sure that no one is "compiling" scores for this contest.

I used the Cal QSO Party selection in CT, and edited CQP.DAT to show the 77
UK County codes. As it turned out, I used more time preparing CT for this
contest than I spent actually working people! A case for using paper logs
because paper logs would have taken less time (overall) to prepare. CT did
work fine, reporting the worked multipliers and tracking them for me.

The following also mailed to G3UFY:

I thought it would be easy to work 30-35 stations! I was really wrong.
I did hear four others during "long path" (1500-1700Z) that I could hear
but they could not hear me: G6YB/P, G5LP, G3VHB, G0IVZ. I worked G3VHB
and G0IVZ during the later "short path" opening, but never heard G6YB or
G5LP again. This is a difficult contest from northern W6!

Equipment: FT-1000DX, Alpha 77D, stack of 2 4-ele yagis at 85' and 147'.
