Maybe its just me, but it seems that the same guys who
beat me when I was running one radio and paper logs are
still beating me now that I have a computer/SO2R setup.

Right on!  I do not know if manual coax switches are out and if that is
considered a gadget but certainly having auto bandswitch/antenna following
ability is a BIG plus...I have on one of my two stations and absolutely love
it!  Remembering to change the band on the contest software, and physically
having to change the antenna are testing of the ability of the gray
matter...not the credit line...and as such fit the goals (IMO) of WRTC!
