I have never operated SO2R and feel it should NOT be in a different category. 
I will try it sooner or later though. I distinctly reside in the camp that 
SO2R is a lone operator striving to maximize contacts with skill and station 
improvements.

I disagree that SO2R does not enhance general station effectiveness. It is a 
very short step from SO2R to 2O2R which could be useful in an emergency.
