I think it's a shame that the line scores weren't moved to NCJ. And if the
reasoning behind that was the same... ie the lack of enough advertisers to
justify the additional pages... then someone may have missed an opportunity
to sell ("look, place your ad in our 'DX Contest Results' issue, and you
know you're going to be reaching thousands and thousands of active, not just
licensed, amateurs!")
That aside, I suggested to certain ARRL staffers when this decision was made
that the line score information should be retrieved from the web site each
year and placed on that year's QST & other publications CD-ROM. That way,
those who still want to mine the old data, years later when it has
disappeared from the web site, can still have it. I was told by at least
one that it was a "very good" idea and would be looked into... and that was
the last I heard of it.
And I too miss reading the Section News each month. Sometimes, "progress"
stinks.
