I've started doing this more lately...I programmed it in a message
memory for SS.

Often when I'm CQing people will call off-frequency...sometimes the
only reason I know they're calling is that they use my call before
the exchange. Otherwise, they're so far off it seems like they're
probably calling someone else.

I started doing it some when I found myself trying to "defend" a
frequency when the going gets crowded.

It also assures the other station (you) that I've got the call right.
If I send W8JQ and the exchange, you get a chance to correct me.
Depending on the contest, if I have your call logged wrong, YOU also
lose the QSO.

It doesn't really cost much time, and I think leads to better
accuracy overall. But that may just be me.

Folks?
