>Why in the heck are RTTY contesters right on 14.100 clobbering the NCDXF Beacons? Those signals are usually not very strong, and 14100 often sounds empty. So the answer is "nature abhors a vacuum." The same logic causes 160m to fill up completely during a 160m contest, all of the bottom 100kHz of 40m to become blocked with SSB signals in a major SSB contest, and so on.
