I have operated several times on the same band and even the same band and mode using 100 - 150 Watts out and getting as close as 30 - 40khz from the transmitting station with the second radio. This has been with antennas which are "tip to tip" orientation separated by about 200 feet. Good antenna placement, if possible may be all you need up to 400W. 1.5kW is a different story. I will let the M/M boys answer that one.
