If the DSP was in the IF, it would be a lot better than the outboard units.
They are usually installed between the radio and speaker, or headphones.
While they work OK, you get a lot of problems with close by stations in the
passband pumping the AVC.
The outboard DSP units do help though. I used to run my FT-840 with an MFJ
784B DSP and it made the difference between being able to contest and not
being able to contest. Now that I have a rig with REAL filters, it is much,
much better. 73 and congrat's on the wallpaper.
