I could not disagree more with KV1Y's post. I for one think the service
that David K1TTT provides to the contesting community is enormous and
greatly appreciated. The number of people around the world who have
decided not to "play games" because of his efforts and the fear of
"being detected". There is no doubt that more than one got "caught with
their pants down" when these analysis first started appearing.

Cheerleaders are just that, cheerleaders. If they are doing so out of
the reasonable spirit of "spotting a friend" a couple of times, it
becomes "unsportsmanlike" in the contest. How much more simple can that
concept be? No judgment is made. It is left up to the community to
decide whether 46 spots for 6Y1V is unsportsmanlike if that is 95% of
that stations spots (hint: it is).

Self Spotters don't "cheat" unless they enter the contest by submitting
a log. At the time David submits his report, it is likely that most
have not submitted a log and thus have not "cheated" if they in fact did
self spot. I wonder how many elect not to submit a log that year as a
result of David's report? You would have a tougher time finding more
convincing evidence on your favorite "crime show" series than some of
what David finds.

The only question that I have and would love to see reported here by
those that have access is the following:

Calls reported as "self spotters" vs. submitted or disqualified in the
specific contest. THAT would be an interesting post.

Thank you David K1TTT. I for one recognize what you do and greatly
appreciate it.

(A self spotter victim - he picked my call to spot himself soon after a
QSO I had with him and I didn't even have an internet connection going
at the time nor a 2M radio in the shack).
