Being a ham in Index I think by itself would justify going anywhere
else to operate, even if only as far Startup or Goldbar, contest or no
contest.  ;^)

But seriously, participation in contests is ultimately who gets on &
makes contacts & I would say that's looking very healthy based on
the ever-increasing grumbling about contests filling the bands.

Radiosport is probably unique in that participants & non-participants
share the same pitch & both are after the same thing - except for
different reasons.  Animals being naturally competitive, there will
always be non-participants who will become participants & as long
as we share an interest in the same activity, what's important is
that activity.

That there's more to this than our contest seems to have been
forgotten, especially in CQ WW.
