At one point I got my logging program brain- locked, with a QSO marked
as a DUPE, but the QSO empty (cleared). As I recall, I could not even
advance to the next QSO and leave the "dupe" blank, As I tried to
figure out how to fix it.I heard N2NC, entered his call, and CT would
not tell me if it was good or bad. So I called him ("have we already
worked?") and he said yes, we had. Well I couldn't waste any more
time, so I just entered a false dupe QSO with N2NC there. That QSO is
not in his log, and I noted that I might have to fix my log.

So, is it harmless --both to myself and to N2NC -- to leave the bogus
dupe with N2NC in the log (i.e., do I know that I will NOT get a NIL
for it)? Or can I just delete the QSO data from the Cabrillo log,
leaving a blank QSO there? Or delete the whole QSO, number and all,
from Cabrillo?

You say this is a lot of bother for one QSO? Hey, if I get a NIL it's
1% of my score. Kills my LCR. :>)
