I fully agree with Dick.

Whole world is changing these days, so why not CQWW be changed a bit, too ?

As an advertizing slogan says: "Traditions are no longer what they used to be
!"

Scoring system has to be directly related to the distance covered during
every QSO in contest. 
I, however guess it will hardly be a change considered by CQWW CC in near
future :-(.

Anomalies like this are inevitable with a continent-based scoring system. I
think the only way to fix it is to use a scheme based on actual distance,
such as one QSO point per 1000 kilometers of distance, or something similar.
It would be relatively simple to implement such a system with today's
computer-based logging and log-checking programs.
