I agree with Scott here, I too think a basic entry level contest would be a
great way to get folks more involved and would be a wonderful place to get
begginers involved with a slow but radual start in the world of contesting, and
to add to that, BUT.....I think everyone should get involved .... give the
newbie a chance to work thier skills up on us well travelled and well worked
EXPERTS...hihi...... This is also a great opportunity to get some of the new
folks involved not only here but in other countries.....and yes.... right up to
70cm would be great....

I think that an international entry level contest is a good idea.
I favor different categories as opposed to power limits because some new
people do use more than 100w.
Other categories could include but not be limited to...
indoor antennas.

I'd also suggest doing the contest three times. Digital, cw, and SSB.
In order to attract VHF/UHF only folks, I suggest running the contest up to
70cm.
If someone new to contesting want to get on 2FM simplex and call CQ contest,
fine, let him make some contacts and get some points. Maybe it will be a good
start for him/her.
I'd also suggest scoring based on geographical areas and categories and not
put too much emphasis on top worldwide scores since it's difficult to compare
scores from different areas.
