Some probably think that it will give them special preference in a 
pileup.  Some probably think that it helps to validate their QSO as 
being made with 5 watts or less.  Some probably think that the other 
station is more likely to QSL.  Some probably think that it gives them 
bragging rights on frequency to be able to bust the pileup with 5 
watts.  All are mistaken.

When I'm running in a contest, the guys who insist upon signing /QRP go 
to the back of the bus right along with the guys who send partial callsigns.
