When living in crowded areas in the middle of Europe or the U.S. it might be
hard for some of you to understand the arguments for suggested revised rules
for the club competitions. If those competitions stimulate more activity in the
contests, why the resistance to extend the geographical area? If the club also
actively encourages education of operating technique and morale standards
(following power, cluster/skimmer and other rules) I only see increased allowed
geographical area as a true advantage. 73 de R3/SM6LRR, Mats

Re: [CQ-Contest] Club/Group competition 275 km radius in CQ Contest (petition
for change).
Like Jorge mention, The XE's are in the same position, just a few contesters
that most of them are in several states
of Mexico with much more separation of the 275km Radius.
The club rule with the 275km is for Entities like USA, JA, DL, F, etc where
there are thousands of Active hams
but in this case Mexico just have a little over 3000 hams, less than 1%
active in contest and most of them
belongs to Grupo DXXE and the members are all over Mexico.
What damage we can do to the big clubs if the number of logs summited are less
that 30 and most of them with
small numbers but giving points.
with this rule NO CLUB competition from Mexico.
Rules are Rules but not fair for us.

and what about if you don´t have more hams in your city?
Today you don´t need to drive to get information from the club meeting about
topics of our hobby? It´s good to have technology to receive information
immediately. You can arrange a meeting in a webinar style or something else
to avoid the distances.
In a few weeks I will be driving 850 kmts to meet LU Contest Group, that
provide me a lot of helpful information about contests and a lot of friends.
In July I will be driving 500 kmts to meet GADX in Brazil.
In my country we are very few serious contesters and we find great support
in contest groups outside our country.

I'm probably going to be in the minority on this as I have been on most
other topics like this.
But I think in exactly the opposite direction. I feel the circle is ten
times TOO BIG right now! I do not feel that two people over 500 miles
apart are in the same club.
A club is a group of people that often meet Like at a monthly meeting.
An organization yes can have members 1000's of miles apart. But a club
is a "Local" thing. A Club is something you would be willing to drive
to a meeting once a month to actually meet the other members of the club.
I don't know many clubs that have members driving 200+ miles to go to a
monthly meeting.
I'd like the circle to be actually reduced to like a 25 mile radius.
Thats a "Club" sized circle.
If ya want more members in your club get more in the club. simple.
But I'll put my flame suit on now.
