Because this year March has 5 full weekends, a oddity that doesn't happen that much.

What happens next year? Should we not attempt to have some consistency in when our major events are held?

I guess where I was coming from is ... we now have virtually instantaneous, universal communication among contesters. The old rationale for always having contests on "the second full weekend in X" would seem to be obsolete, so why not be more adaptable to real-world calendar constraints?

A similar statement can be made as to why WPX CW is on a holiday weekend for the US in May.

Just contemplating this weekend without any significant contest activity, and wondering why WPX SSB is on Easter weekend. Why wasn't it moved a year ago?
