It is a CONTEST, and if I can use a good spot on the band and you happen to
be there also, one of us is just going to get tackled. That is the nature
of playing contests.
Actually, NO, it isn’t! The behavior that you describe in a radio contest is
the behavior of a lid or bully trying to rationalize that their unsportsmanlike
behavior is “ok”.No contest operator that I respect or admire behaves that way
intentionally. Rather, good ops they work on improving their operating
skills, one of which is how to find a freq. without interfering with other ops
or bullying them off a frequency already in use.
Comparing a radio contest to American Football, a sport where violent contact
is fully expected subject to RULES, is inaccurate
and just plain silly.
