I'm not persuaded. If we're talking about *serious* Classic entrants, then it seems to me they need to plan their time on both the high and low bands to produce the most return. For me, that means Saturday and Sunday daylight for the high bands and both days on the low bands when it's dark here and in areas with a significant mult and Q potential, at times when the maxi9mum number of casual ops will still be up. There may be a general rule about operating on the lowest band that produces decent rates, and so on.

I'm sure a lot of people only operate one day or the other because of other obligations or interests, but let's not blame it on the Classic category.

I think this is a valid point. If a DX station is for 1/2 the contest it
is less likely that you will work him, especially at night when the rates
are slower. I believe most "classic" entries did most of their operating
on Saturday and perhaps one should change their operating strategy and
hunt for common mults earlier. I am sure that I missed a lot of easy
multipliers on 40m last weekend by not finding them on the first day.

I don't know why that would be, Charly. It's not the first 24 calendar
hours of the contest, but the first total 24 hours that the operator
operates, in as many periods as he wishes. so long as the breaks are an
hour or more. To my mind, that just adds a strategic component that is
lacking in the full contest, but should not affect what you hear.

I am guessing that the "first 24 hr" rule brought the big guns out tuning
early because they found me running in the first hours instead of coming
tuning around in the latter hours of the full weekend. True or false?
