Hi Steve, Dale, others who think it is discourteous not to ID after every
QSO:

You missed Bob's point entirely. The idea is to have callers in the pileup
wait as short a time as possible to work you. Not IDing after every QSO
helps those who already know your call and are in the pileup. I'm going to
work the loudest guy first. If I know 5 or 6 guys are calling and I just
signed my call one or two QSOs before, I want to work through them. If I
give my call after each QSO, more will join the pileup and the guy who knows
my call and has called 3 or 4 times is going to have to wait longer or go
away. Recognize that I often have someone send a loud CL? immediately after
I have signed my call.

If you have not been on the receiving side of a rip-roaring packet pileup,
it is difficult to understand.

Having said that, I don't think I have ever gone more than 4 (OK maybe 5)
QSOs without IDing. And that is only when I know there are 3 or more in the
pileup and my rate is over 200, which means you need to wait less than a
minute to hear my call.

73, Ken, K6LA / VY2TT
