Why would I dismantle something that I had worked years to acquire, considering it would force me to suffer the head banging desensing that my earlier rigs had? Especially if I intended to devote somewhat less time to the hobby as I got older and wanted to make the most out of whatever that was.

Your suggestion makes no sense to me.  I simply don't see the point of it.

think about it you guys, the next time you replumb you bathroom sink
realize that it is the LAST time you will have to do it. Ever. You will
be dead before the brass wears through.

so why not radios? go back to using a TS 520 or an FT101. Sell your tower
and put up a dipole and work a few before or after the football game
