Hi Mats,
TS 590 is indeed a nice contest radio. But unfortunately operator can change (intentionally or unintentionally) setting in the menu to make it clicking on CW. That cannot happen with K3. CW wave form is hard coded in the firmware and no operator can change it. That is why K3 has been mentioned here so many times as model radio. Sure there are other reasons that may lead to poor CW signal. Some of them were mentioned by K9YC. It is always easier to make something worse then make it better.

Dave, not correct...

Elecraft might be best in class, but there are many others that fulfill
criteria for being a clean rig.

Just to mention one, the TS 590 S (and most likely the newer model SG) are
excellent CW-rigs without any tendency of clicking.

So, if we should discuss this issue, let us be honest and realize K3 is
excellent, but others are almost equally good. And many hams would rather
invest in two cheaper radios for the same price as the K3. The only reason
why I would consider the more expensive K3 is the low weight and 2 separate
receivers.

This is the second discussion of key clicks on the cq-contest reflector
and again Elecraft is being supported as the only transceiver clean enough
to be entered in contests.

I find it hard to believe that Kenwood, Icom, and Yaesu have done nothing
to fix problems like clicks. I know a couple of FTDX5000 owners who have
corrected this and it seems Yaesu has incorporated this into the equipment.
I have a FT-1000MP MK V 200 watt model that has the W8JI mod. If this is
a real problem then why have not the manufacturers fixed this?

Some of the new transceivers cost more than I have invested in Amateur
Radio in almost 60 years. I am certain that contestants do not
intentionally click and to send them a message during the contest is
counterproductive.

It seems to me the best approach is to address this problem directly with
the manufacturers.
