You had to go back to 1972 to find these? 40 plus years ago? I wasn't even licensed yet but I suspect JA's played a big part. Also you just picked W6 and left out W7 and VE7. W2PV had 10 more mults but the 6's were able to work more zones, which is interesting.

Less W6's, was this just a blip in the propagation gods, more JA's to work or more serious contesters located outside W1 land?

You can take statistics and make them tell you anything you want to see especially when you exclude certain areas.

Since some 6's won 40 years ago I guess everything is just super? Just move along folks, nothing to see here.
