In addition, unless everyone in the country got the same OK for higher power,
how fair is that to your in-country competitors? You shouldn't get 6 dB just
for knowing the right guy.
I'd love to see all countries be able to run 1500W for contests and be on even
ground, but unless you go about doing it legitimately, it's illegal and still
cheating to me. Regardless of how common.
I assume the contest rules have some reference to obeying your countries
regulations.

I operated from a country where people not from that country were not
allowed to operate on certain bands but they did and those contacts were
still counted. These were not contest bands. Once again wink wink.
Sorry we ran the power that we were allowed and the band that we were
allowed by our license.
Just because the right person says something does not make it right.
What does the license say.
Sure sounds like a whole lot more cheating has gone on in contesting
than many have imagined.....

only 400
watts. Just like the Italians claiming to be running 300 watts and some
of the
other European countries claiming 400 watts.
I know for a fact that if you operate from a country with power limits that
exceptions can be made if you know the right people in government. Many
years
ago I operated in a country that had a lower power limit and we were
allowed to
run a KW during a contest.
