I don't get why the people who want to get rid of the unassisted category
do but apparently they've salivated at the prospect for a long time. I
don't know why. Maybe they want to see if they can beat us or if we can
beat them but because we don't play in the same sandbox they didn't have a
chance? Ego stroking maybe?

I don't buy the cheating argument and in any case both assisted and
unassisted disallow self spotting which is what precipitated this
discussion. So that won't solve the self spotting problem.

I go unassisted for phone because I like to run. I'm not a cluster clicker
and I find it distracting. I have been doing assisted in CW because I have
skimmer and I wanted to give skimmer a good workout. I also can't run CW
very well. I may or may not stick to assisted with skimmer, but I have to
get better at CW running.

Anyway the powers that be probably have their mind made up and apart from
forming a new contest committee (an independent one) and making a new
contest with our rules, we are stuck with it... I hope they don't take away
unassisted but if they do I may decide to not participate in the major
contests without an unassisted category.
