What has changed over the years? People have been cheating for a long time. The ways to cheat have increased with the internet, whether it is watching spots while SO or using any or all of the many methods to create groups and pass information on to others.

We still have flagrant power abusers, people used to schedule contacts using the telephone, now that is done via email or groups.

About the only thing that might have been addressed was some of the rubber clocking and time issues, although some rules allow you to break the rules then remove the violated contacts that were not mults after the fact.

Will Contesting be an E-sport, simply, no. Far too many variables. The closest thing we have is WRTC and even then certain sites seem to be more advantageous than others and all the equipment is different among many other things.

I would like to think that most of us do it right, but you just don't know. I have had too many people in online gaming get banned for cheating when I thought they were doing it right and they lied straight to our faces without a second thought.

I get why people cheat with drugs, engine modifications when the stakes are millions. I still can't wrap my head around cheating for a piece of paper or a 60 dollar plaque.

My interest has definitely tapered off lately, and the lousy condx haven't helped but I feel much the same as you Dale.

It seems to me.. that the ONLY one that I can COUNT on.. to be ethical.. is ME.

So the fruitless and wasteful exercise of comparing scores.. with ANYONE.. is a
complete futile.

Then.. one goes on down this slippery slope.. Since I am the only one that I
trust..

and MY score is the only one that hasn't been jacked up... that I know for
sure...

Then WHY BOTHER playing this game? To see how I stand in a corn field with
... .. with...

well.. ... can't say peers.. can I?

OR

Simply throw ethics out the window and jump into the swamp.

Makes one not wonder so much any longer about the actual longevity of real
contesting in general.

Unless, the definition of cheating is re-written, the scope of contesting no
only includes the radio, and op skills in using

that radio, after assembling the optimal hardware.. but also includes the skill
of managing the previously outlawed

Qs from social media and the like.

NOW I GET IT!!

But.. I don't want it!!! Don't want that skillset.

So.. I choose the not play that game.. have fun.. if you can doing that.

I choose, to play according to the rules.. strictly.. with MY chosen set of
hardware.. optimal? nope..

but then.. it is what I have.. and what I have made.. and it provides me
ethically attained rewards, and fun.

FRC has done this for years in the club chat room during a test, however, if you are
single op there is the danger of the "inadvertent " passing of information from
non single op stations.

So many that it won't make any difference since "everyone does it" no one will
care. Right? That is the entire idea of making that feature. So much for ethics.....
have fun guys.

Make this a great day

Ed,

I guess would be not more vs other Internet messengers. There is no
communication tools on that room page. The private room is for personal
competition. Noting more. It's for contesters who wouldn't reveal personal
score to others. I know a lot of them. )))

Sounds like the "dark web" of contesting emerging. I wonder how many ESP Qs

We have launched new Contest Online Score version having a new amazing
option - Private room. Any user can create a Private room and join friends
by sharing a PIN code. No one from outside can see private room members
score while lucky private room members could easily switch between View -all
(room members plus others ) and Private View (the only private room
members). It's absolutely new feature. I've never heard about something else
before. Please help us with testing and debugging it. Any feedback really
appreciated!
