 I strongly agree with Ed Muns. DX contests are quite different when worked from W6 as compared to W1. Without the points and mults for NA QSOs, most of us out here wouldn't bother, or wouldn't take it seriously.

Which is how many (most?) of us out here feel about most DX contests.

Same rationale.  Europe has far more QSO points (as well as mults) available
in a comparable geographic area to VE/US.  EU countries are similar in size
to US states and VE areas.  "Growing up" has nothing to do with it.

All contests don't have to have the same rules.  There is a wide diversity
of contests for each of us to choose the ones we enjoy.
