I run a trio of 10 year old 28" monitors here and one of them died a final
death this summer. A monitor is very important to me because I like a crisp
big screen which is not fatiguing after long hours of contesting and my eyes
tend to go buggy after looking at any screen for a while. Especially
important is a high contrast ratio so that the black is actually black on
the monitor.
After some research, I picked up an Asus PB328Q WQHD format (2560x1440)
which has proven to be just fantastic. If it lasts me like my old ones
have, it will have been cheap in the long run.

I currently have a 23" monitor on my desk which fits perfectly between 2
desktop shelf units. Given the recent proliferation of larger monitors,
including the ultra-wides (34" or so), I am considering doing a little
redecorating to accommodate a larger monitor.
I'm interested in thoughts on the ideal monitor size, and resolution)
for what we do (SO1R here).
