That's why I still LOVE the old format of the original Novice Roundup!

You could do the whole time alotted period 24-30 hours? anyway. but you had 10 days to do it in!

It required thought of when to be on. not just brite force. you had to learn and understand about propagation etc. When should I get on? not just "Get ON"

One of the great things about contesting is that you can spend as much or as
little time as you want. I can assure you that the new guys who showed up on
Sunday afternoon and evening had some wild pileups (fresh meat)!

I made zero contacts. First time in a long time.

I made lots of FT8 contacts this weekend and watch some Football and
worked on some outside projects.

Very little motivation for SS. I guess I have too much going on at the
moment to be tied down for 24 hours.

I also noticed next to no excitement or posts with the local contest
club. I did get a couple of frantic emails when my cluster apparently
rebooted about 10 minutes prior to the contest!

I guess we will see if participation was down from the numbers in the
next few hours.

I was thinking the same thing. The bands just don't sound as crowded as
I remember them 20+ years ago. We sure miss all those 1x3 calls that
used bugs and had been doing SS forever.

Do you remember when you wished that it was easy to find a good clear
QRG to run in SSCW?
