I think for at least some of the years the "RTTY Sweepstakes" was actually
sponsored by CARTG, the Canadian RTTY group, although rules and results were
published in QST.
In the early years it was kinda like CQ WW RTTY is today. It allowed US-US and
US-DX and DX-DX contacts with both states and countries as mults, and work once
per band not once per contest.
Near the end they used a "zone chart" to attempt to compute scores based on
distance. I reproduce the 1974 zone chart and rules here:

The distance-based points they used in the zone chart kinda reminds me of
current Makrothen.

Sweepstakes would be like.hmmm.
OK, for those of you not in Arizona or KH6, don't forget that NS starts one
hour earlier local time. So if you start calling cq and wonder where everyone
is, they have been there and done that earlier.
Most all of our regulars were active last week, with W9BGX (WA9LKZ) our newest
regular participant. Activity does seem to be migrating to lower bands so
don't give up if 20 sounds dead at the beginning.
Here are the details for our usual Thursday evening session (with the new time
slots duly noted):
Friday, 10 Nov 2017, 0145Z - 0215Z (Thursday, 9 Nov 2017 in NA)

-- Same band dupes ok after 1 intervening Q.

. Set up your logger to report and select the NCCC NA RTTY SPRINT on the web
page to display the scores. The Help menu pulldown will give you the info
needed to setup the most common logging programs.
Don't forget to report your score to 3830scores.com, and join us at 0300Z on
3610 kHz (+/- a few for ongoing groups) for comments and questions (and dinner
menus).
