The ARRL SS years ago was a two weekend affair and you had to pick the mode and
the max of 40 hours out of 73 total allotted.
Virtually everyone ran 150 watts input or less as there was a multiplier for
each QSO of 1.25 om CW and 1.5 on phone.
The message logged was like a ARRL message header with time logged as both sent
and received plus all hand logged this was before computer logging. Sure is
easier today. Just wish most would run say 100 watts out today. With a
decent antenna most of us could make almost as many Q's without the bandwidth
of high power.
