Years ago, I operated the ARRL DX contest from ZL.   This was after the CEPT agreement, but New Zealand had not yet signed on. I got a ZL license, and was supposed to sign K9MA/ZL3. Things were rather informal in ZL, and my ZL ham friends didn't think I'd get in any big trouble signing ZL3/K9MA, which I figured might net a few more QSO's. I don't know if it did, but I never heard from RSM, their version of the FCC.

From the beginning of time the popular format was “W1ABC portable XY1” on phone, or
“W1ABC/XY1” on Morse/RTTY.

Then a few years ago, about the time the Palos Verde Sundancers retired, the ITU suggested a different format of
“XY1/W1ABC”. (For what it’s worth, that has not been universally adopted. If I operate from
Manitoba, by USA and Canadian regulation I am required to sign “K0HB/VE4”.)

In any case, everyone with more than one contest under their belt fully understands either
format, and there is no intent to deceive by slipping into an “old fashioned”
habit of ID.

I'm sorry, but I thought it was against Good Amateur Practice and the spirit,
if not the letter, of the rules, to change log entries prior to submission...
especially based on emails, and not what was copied over the air?
Further, IMHO, if what was sent over the air was inconsistent or
unintentionally misleading by the sending station, this is an issue that should
be taken up by the contest committee, not a discussion item for the reflector
-- no disrespect to the reflector membership intended.

In the AADX SSB
"CQ N7MOT N7MOT operating DU6 that is DU6/N7MOT"
This caused a lot of confusion for us.
Many stations copied him as N7MOT/DU6
This should be
CQ DU6/N7MOT DU6/N7MOT Contest
