During NAQP, I noted that both Susan and Richard King changed their name.
Not sure why.
After the contest, I had an email from Susan with an explanation. Oh gee
whiz. This kind of news is never a happy event.
George Miller and I cut our teeth on what we considered at the time as
serious contesting together in 1969 and in 1970, 71, etc.
We both butted heads and learned from each other while doing 15m
monoband.. It was the NNJ battle for 15m (CQWW). We both had a great
time. I remember he was building a monoband 15 yagi using Gotham antenna
elements. I also remember him getting frustrated when his dog bit one of
the elements in half, while still on the ground. Ah...those were the
days. LOL
George came up to the local M/M (K2GL/N2AA) in 1978, mostly on 80m. He was
a great asset, along with K2NG. What fun days those were.
I am happy to have my great memories of George, from my beginning days of
serious contesting. Even now, with this news, I am still smiling with good
memories of fun times.
GN OM!
