Thanks for the replies. I was finally able to pry the two end pieces off
of the rectangular plastic tube. I used a sharp utility knife and got as
much of the seams apart as I could. A dremel tool was suggested and
probably would have made it easier, but I don't have one.
A thin bladed screwdriver allowed me to pry off one end. Both ends are
glued with blobs of hot glue on opposite corners. Sticking the utility
blade in a quarter inch or so cut through the glue blobs.
With one end off, I could insert a long hex head bolt through a small
opening and tap the bolt with a hammer to get the other cap off.
I don't believe this indicator unit was intended to be easily repaired.
I'll be able to replace the pot and then shove the guts back into the
tube. A real PITA but doable. (K0RF says he did it but doesn't remember
details) Kinda like building a ship in a bottle.
