If all the spaces on your screen fill with zeros you most likely are running
CT in a Windows shell window (a real no-no) and you ran out of memory.
Always run CT from DOS only.

I don't think your problem was RF related as I too had a bunch of
garbage (like zeros with spaces between them) hit the screen and
my rig also jumped to 16 MHZ.....it was really wierd!
