The radio is a Yaesu FT-1000D. The computer is an IBM Thinkpad 600. The
operating system loaded is Win98. I have used the shutdown option to
restart in DOS. I loaded the software from the diskette you supplied
following the steps in your manual. The radio is connected via it's CAT
port through a Yaesu interface box that has a 25 pin D connector. From the
connector to the computer there is a cable with 25 pin D on one end to
serial port connector on the other end. I tried using a different data
cable with no effect. I loaded COMSTR1 before starting CT. Switches were
set for N82 and B4800 and P1. These are mentioned in your manual as being
correct for the Yaesu FT1000. I also checked the radio's software version
and it is version 6.0.
I have tried variations in the above theme such as changing the order the
switches are typed, etc., but there was no effect. I tried setting a
different com port than port 1 and this didn't seem to get as far, i.e.,
the "radio timeout" message no longer appeared but there was still no
apparent interaction between the radio and computer. I have also tried
using a 25 pin D connector on each end going into the printer port on the
computer with no change in results (i.e., radio timeout message.)
The previous owner of the radio has said that the radio worked with other
software but I do not have copies of it to try.
I'm about out of things to try.
