We started working with the low cost CPE's provided by Charles (Hawking
Tech conversions). These units contain Prizm based radio cards. As you
know Prizm has a "lack of proper support" with the KarlNet code to
properly report SNR. This poses a problem for most WISP's that encourage
"Do it yourself" installs or work with an outside installer. The KarlNet
base Bin code does not allow signal testing without a SNMP password.
Either we reveal our naked base units to our installers or involve staff
from the WISP at each and every installation. Does anyone out there know
(KarlNet included ;-) Is the lack of SNR support the reason why the web
interface exhibits the same "1db" signal bug that most Prizm based
cards? In other words is the improper SNR a result of the same bug
exhibited in the WG+ boards, Flashrom, or any KarlNet based Bin, or is
it a lack of firmware storage to hold the code for signal testing? Will
this be fixed in future revisions?
