Check the log .. you may find a fatal exception has occurred as a log file
entry. Or such has been for quite a number of etherant's with 3com EC's in
them.

This is probably not the right mailing list to ask, but I figured in a
collective group of WISPs, someone might have shared this experience.

I have seen every now and then that a couple of my Lucent ECs do strange
things. A prime example is a shot I have that is from the AP side of a
AP-1000 w/ Karlnet Software to a Lucent Ec with an Orinoco Gold Card.
It switches signal levels and drops packets every nth packet, and is
causing me some heartache. Although the SNR never drops below 18,
whenever it changes, (from say, 30) there is packet loss.

I have tried different radio cards, different antennas, praying,
cursing, etc., and it exists none the less. I had this problem before,
and switching it out with newer equipment fixed it, but this is an
expensive solution.

I suspect the Orinoco Card has a "fall-back" feature that makes it
change brodcast strength to compensate for an error, and in turn creates
more errors. I would like to turn that feature off, but nothing I have
seen indicates this is possible.

Just may have to replace it.
