Oh yeah, I remember the days of Boot ROM.
But if Karlnet is booting on an Ethernet interface - this doesn't do me much
good getting it into a Silver card, does it?

WASFlashromhardware?Howabout a Routerboard 230?

NO, flashrom is not CF flash. It is a PC setup with an ethernet card and a
FLASHROM plugged into it that has the boot code on it. You've probably
never even paid attention to many of the older ethernet cards with the black
rom plugs on them.

The rom holds the boot code, in this case Karlnet. You plug the boot rom
enabled ethernet card and that becomes the fixed boot disk.
