I believe the KN-50's only take up to 24v I could be wrong though.

We use using a Veritech (Saneo) card and it could be putting out a real
voltage as you say.

I have a couple of dead (but still powering on) KN-50's l thought l would
test with in the hope that they are similar to a kn-205 in the power
department.

Hmm, well...if it'll run off 48vDC, I'd switch the polarity to what it wants
and then test again. Although, I've dealt w/ rectifiers that had problems
when I connected the antenna cable to an orinoco card. There is actually
REAL voltage that comes out of that orinoco connector. You might have to be
extra creative on this one (though I'll have to leave the creativity up to
you).

The KN-205 can take 48v through the POE only.

I am quite sure it did short off the grounded antenna lead.

Getting around the problem is the issue at the moment as l need to run
Karlnet on the site, and have a -48v enviroment

Uhh... can the KN-205 take 48vDC? I think you have to feed it with the
proper polarity or you'll have issues. You probably shorted out the board
when connecting the "grounded" antenna lead.

Hi All,

We have recently commissioned a new site with licensed microwave gear for
backhaul. All this sort of gear and our routers use -48v ie, the neutral &
earth is positive.

We plugged in a KN-205 board off our power supply without the antenna
attached and it worked fine. Once the antenna as connected the board went
dead (no lights) and will now not function again.

Does anyone have any suggestions in what l can do here. I have been
considering changing the polarity of the 48v being feed into the KN-205 via
poe in case it was a polarity miss match.

Thanks,
Phil
