Ability to use the same port to control the radio and key the cw. NA
10 will do this because we re-did the serial port drivers. If my
memory serves correctly, some of the last NA9 versions will do this
too, but I *KNOW* this works with NA10. (I have a home-made ICOM
RS-232 interface with CW keying included, you could also add PTT
control too if desired.)
BandMap would display calls entered on the keyboard whether you worked
the station or not and indicated whether you had or not. NA 10 does
this by typing a call in the callsign field and pressing Ctrl-Enter
(just like CT). Non-dupes in the band-map are highlighted, dupe QSOs
are dark. Its funny, but people tend to utilize the band-map
differently - some to find QSOs to work, while some use it to avoid
sitting in pileups where the DX does not give his call (K8CC is in the
latter category).
CW programming in two radio mode was indendent (one might want a
little different cq at a different speed on 80 than on 40). NA 10
does this - in fact, you can have two speeds for each radio and toggle
between them with Alt-V.
Ability to set keying weight differently for each radio. No, NA does
not do this, but its not a bad idea so we'll look into it.
Larry also mentioned a problem that NJ4F had with not seeing spots in
version 9.xx. I recently saw the same thing and turned out to be a
bug in the code that tries to determine the date of an incoming spot
(PacketCluster spot had time, but not date unless you do a SH/DX -
this gets complicated when spots span the 00Z barrier, but the bottom
line is K8CC made a mistake). This is fixed in version 10.13 that
will be shipped to K3LR tonite (12/11).
On the surface, K7SV is probably right that NA10 is quite similar to
NA9. However, it contains a number of features to make life easier on
the contester, such as the separate CONFIG utility (this is a
lifesaver in a six-computer multi-multi like K8CC). Two radio
operation has been refined, and works on SSB (unlike all but the very
recent TRLogs). We have several exciting new features in the works
too, so stay tuned.
