I HAD planned to use NA hooked to two packet clusters this past weekend in
the ARRL DX CW contest. That was before the monsoon we got on Thursday and
lasted into Saturday. At any rate, the phone company couldn't get to my
shack. Seems they dont have 4-wheel drive vehicles.
Anyway... Our cluster here in the SE is so piss poor that I decided to hook
us in to the midwest cluster via packet. This would be done by hooking one
of the computer to a modem. I issue the dial command from the packet talk
window and type in my login information. Once I'm in, I just telnet to one
of the nodes.
Now my question... Has anyone else done this with NA ??? If so, do the
spots get passed to the other computers on the network? If there are only 2
computers on the network and both computers have TNC set to local then I
think the scenario works FB. What happens when you throw a 3rd in the loop
?? When you type a talk message on the 3rd computer does it go out on both
packet clusters? I think yes.
Anyway... something to think about. I wish our locals would join the 20th
century but the sentiment here is "Those are our spots". What they dont
realize is that the guys up in VA are piping out all of our spots and piping
in nothing. Back to SOAB.
