Agree a 100%, however it will take quite a bit of
time before those "monster radios" are gone from
the ham bands.
Well, no issue then when you can adjust CW rise and
fall.
Don?t get me wrong, the ones I?ve heard didn?t click
much, just a sligth bit.
Might be that if you set it 100% click free keying
gets too soft.
It?s an interesting radio, still thinking about
getting one, the only thing that bugs me is the
100W transmitter.

Yes, you can set the CW rise and fall times. I suspect a few Orion
owners have set their CW Rise/Fall at less than the 5 ms that's stock.
7 to 10 ms seems to make the Orion "click proof" although 60 WPM code
suffers a bit.
I for one will be glad when the key clicks and the worst of "brand
Y's" phase noise disappears from the bands. While the phase noise is
nearly as good as packet cluster at times, it's also sometimes hard
copying a DX station listening "up 1" through the phase noise from a
multitude of hiss boxes. He might as well work simplex as close split.

Well, yes and no. While it doesn?t click as much as the
Yaesu keyclick monsters the Orion still has some keyclicks.
Why is that? Got surprised when I heard it.
Don?t remember but can you set the rise and fall time of
the keyed envelope?
It clicks on the "break side" so that one seems a bit too
fast.

This probably marks the beginning of the end of contest
dominance
by Brand Y...good riddance to their clicks!
