SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 08 Aug 2004 until 10 Aug 2004)
SOLAR FLARES : Quiet conditions (<50% probability of C-class flares)
GEOMAGNETISM : Quiet (A<20 and K<4)
SOLAR PROTONS : Quiet
PREDICTIONS FOR 08 Aug 2004 10CM FLUX: 101 / AP: 010
PREDICTIONS FOR 09 Aug 2004 10CM FLUX: 106 / AP: 008
PREDICTIONS FOR 10 Aug 2004 10CM FLUX: 110 / AP: 012

COMMENT: Catania sunspot group 90 (NOAA 0656) has now become the biggest group
on the visible solar disk. It has a beta magnetic configuration and seems to be
growing. So far, it produced only small B-class flares, but there is a small
chance for a C-flare from this goup. The solar X-ray background is slowly
increasing.

The solar wind speed is currently mildly elevated at 450km/s, but the
north-south component of the IMF is very close to zero, so we expect quiet
conditions. Yesterday, some geomagnetic observatories reported K-indices up to 4
or even 5, and also NOAA's estimated Kp index reached 5, but in Niemegk and
Izmiran K-indices stayed at quiet values.

SOLAR INDICES FOR 7 Aug 2004
SUNSPOT INDEX : 086
10CM SOLAR FLUX : 095
AK CHAMBON LA FORET : 021
AK WINGST : ///
ESTIMATED AP : 019
