Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2018 Jan 03 1230 UTC.

Solar Activity

24 hr Summary: Solar activity was very low with a spotless solar disk. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.

Forecast: Solar activity is expected to remain very low from 03-05 Jan.

Energetic Particle

24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at normal levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background values.

Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be at normal to moderate levels all three days (03-05 Jan) in response to the earlier enhanced solar wind field from the CH HSS. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue at background levels all three days.

Solar Wind

24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters were indicative of a return to a background solar wind regime. Total field strength was steady between 2 nT and 6 nT, while the Bz component underwent only weak deviations between +/- 3 nT. Solar wind speed continued to decrease to near 375 km/s by periods end. The phi angle was positive (away from Sun) until about 02/1700 UTC, when it deflected into a mostly negative sector (towards the Sun) until about 02/2100 UTC when it turned back to a positive sector.

Forecast: Solar wind parameters are anticipated to remain near background levels over the next three days (03-05 Jan).

Geospace

24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet.

Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet all three days (03-05 Jan), as Earth comes under the influence of the slow solar wind speed regime.
