Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2018 Dec 21 1230 UTC.
Solar Activity
24 hr Summary: Solar activity remained very low and no sunspots were present on the visible disk. No Earth-directed CMEs were evident in available coronagraph imagery.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be very low all three days (21-23 Dec) due to a lack of active regions or spot groups.
Energetic Particle
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at normal to moderate levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained at background values.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to continue at normal to moderate levels all three days (21-23 Dec) and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to maintain background levels.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters were indicative of waning negative polarity CH HSS influence. Total field strength was steady near 3-5 nT, the Bz component fluctuated between +/- 4 nT, and solar wind speed steadily decreased from 560 km/s to near 485 km/s. The phi angle was predominantly negative.
Forecast: Solar wind speed is expected to decrease on 21-22 Dec as the negative polarity CH HSS rotates away from a geoeffective position. By 23 Dec, a return to background conditions is expected.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled due to negative polarity CH HSS influence.
Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to continue the trend towards mostly quiet conditions for 21-23 Dec as CH HSS influence subsides.
