Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2020 Aug 17 1230 UTC.

Solar Activity

24 hr Summary: Solar activity continued at very low levels. Coronal dimming near S30E20 was observed in GOES-16 SUVI 195 imagery around 16/1700 UTC. An associated CME signature was observed in SOHO/LASCO C2 coronagraph imagery beginning at 16/1800 UTC off the SE limb. Initial results suggest the chance of a glancing blow by early to midday on 20 Aug.

Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be at very low levels on 17-19 Aug.

Energetic Particle

24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached moderate levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux maintained background values.

Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to reach moderate levels on 17-19 Aug and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue at background levels.

Solar Wind

24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters were at nominal levels with solar wind speed between 298-340 km/s. Total field ranged from 2-8 nT while the Bz component was between +7/-3 nT. Phi angle was variable.

Forecast: Nominal solar wind conditions are expected to persist on 17-18 Aug. Weak enhancements from a negative polarity CH HSS are likely on 19 Aug.

Geospace

24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet.

Forecast: Quiet conditions are expected on 17-18 Aug. Quiet to unsettled levels are expected on 19 Aug due to CH HSS effects.
