Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2021 Jan 29 1230 UTC.
Solar Activity
24 hr Summary: Solar activity was very low. Coronal dimming was observed at 28/2311 UTC and at 29/0947 UTC in GOES SUVI 195 imagery associated with B-class flaring from Region 2800 (N18W42). The region is currently a spotless plage group. We are currently waiting on coronagraph imagery to fill in to determine if there are associated CMEs.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be very low on 29-31 Jan.
Energetic Particle
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached high levels with a peak flux of 3,210 pfu observed at 28/1615 UTC. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained at background values.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be moderate to high on 29-31 Jan while the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue at background levels.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters returned to nominal levels over the period. Solar wind speed decreased from approximately 480 km/s to near 380 km/s. Total field ranged from 1-3 nT while the Bz component was between +2/-3 nT. Phi angle was mostly oriented in a negative solar sector.
Forecast: Solar wind parameters are expected to continue near background levels on 29-31 Jan.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet.
Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be mostly quiet through 31 Jan.
