Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2021 Dec 12 1230 UTC.
Solar Activity
24 hr Summary: Solar activity was very low. A B6 flare was observed at 12/0546 UTC from a region around the southeast limb. A new spotted region emerged during the period located near S10E52. We are awaiting more classification observations before assigning a region number. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to continue at very low levels on 12-14 Dec with a slight chance for C-class flares on 14 Dec.
Energetic Particle
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at normal to moderate levels. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux maintained background levels.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be at moderate levels with a chance for high levels on 12-14 Dec. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue at background levels.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: A mild enhancement was observed in the total field over the period. Total Field values ranged from 6-8 nT while the Bz component was between +6/-8 nT. Speed hovered near 300 km/s. Phi angle was negative.
Forecast: Solar wind parameters are expected to become mildly enhanced on 12-13 Dec due to the onset of a negative polarity CH HSS. A return to nominal conditions is expected by 14 Dec.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet.
Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to unsettled on 12-13 Dec due to HSS effects. Mostly quiet conditions are expected to return by 14 Dec.
