The August, 2004 issue of RadCom from the RSGB has an article, "The RSGB and Power Line Telecommunications (PLT), by Angus Annan, MM1CCR, "the RSGB Board member for the Environment portfolio and Chair of the RSGB EMC Committee."

The article is available on the RSGB website (www.rsgb.org).

There are some worthwhile references:

The RSGB EMC committee website: http://www.qsl.net/rsgb_emc
PLT sounds: http://www.qsl.net/rsgb_emc/pltsounds.html

The PLT link at www.rsgb.org contains most of the same information, and may load more quickly.

Unfortunately neither site has been updated recently, so it's missing the really big development: British Telecom has decided to roll out ADSL broadband to all telephone exchanges (well, all but the very tiniest and most remote) in the next 12-15 months. BT are also working on extending the 4-mile limit from exchange to subscriber by various means, notably wireless.

This kills the economic case for PLT/BPL in the UK stone-dead.

But that isn't to say we've heard the last of it. EMC problems do seem to come back like Dracula...
